Why the same handful of patterns keep showing up in cathedrals, cells, galaxies, and the notebooks of people who really didn't want to share them.
The question you actually asked
Why the Vesica had to be first
Not "why did someone choose it." Why it is mathematically impossible for anything else to be first. Follow this — it's the best part.
Step 1 — You start with nothing but a compass.
A compass makes exactly one thing: a circle. A circle is unity — the one, the whole, the undivided. It's the only shape you can draw from a single point. So the circle is the only possible first mark. No choice yet.
Step 2 — The second circle has only one honest home.
You need to place a second circle. Where? The only non-arbitrary point in existence is a point already sitting on the first circle. Put the compass there, draw the same circle. Anywhere else would be a random guess. This isn't a guess — it's the only legal move.
Step 3 — The Vesica appears, and you never chose it.
The two circles now overlap, each center resting on the other's edge. The almond between them is unavoidable. You didn't design it. It fell out of the only move the math allowed.
That almond is the geometric shape of one becoming two.
The actual why
The Vesica is first because it is the first shape that can exist the moment there is more than one thing. Creation's first act — in Genesis, in every myth — is division: light from dark, waters from waters. The Vesica is that division made visible. And it's forced by math, not by belief.
Where it gets heavy
The abyss hidden in the first breath
The ancients weren't reverent about the Vesica because it was pretty. They were reverent because of what's inside it.
Measure that almond and three things fall out:
Its height ÷ width = √3 (1.7320508…) — an irrational number. The exact kind of number the Pythagoreans killed a man for revealing.
Hidden in its proportions: √2, √3, and √5 — the seeds of nearly every ratio in geometry.
√5 generates φ, the golden ratio — the spiral, the pentagon, the whole rest of the pattern.
Sit with this
The very first shape — the one you are forced to draw before anything else can exist — secretly contains the infinite, un-writable numbers. You cannot make "two" without summoning infinity. The abyss is in the first breath of creation. That is what they weren't ready to look at.
And one more turn of the screw: connect the two circle-centers to a tip of the almond and you get a perfect equilateral triangle — three-in-one, the Trinity. This is literally Proposition 1 — the first thing proven — in Euclid's Elements, the book that founded all geometry for 2,300 years.
Western mathematics itself begins inside that almond.
Why the second symbol is what it is
The Seed of Life was forced too
Once you see the first move, the second symbol isn't a choice either. It's the only thing that can happen next.
You now have new intersection points. You keep making the same single move: put the compass on each new crossing, draw the same circle.
Do it around the first circle and it closes perfectly at six — six circles fit around one with zero gap, zero error. Not approximately. Exactly six. (That's why snowflakes, honeycombs, and carbon are all six-fold — same forced fact.)
The result is 7 circles — the Seed of Life. It took six steps of drawing. In Genesis, creation takes six days and rests on the seventh.
The whole secret, in one line
Seed → Egg → Flower → Fruit is not a sequence anyone picked. Each shape is the only thing that can come next if you start with unity and never once make an arbitrary choice. That's why cultures with no contact — Egypt, India, Celtic Europe — all carved the same shapes. They weren't sharing a symbol. They were all obeying the same math.
Deeper — the thing under the thing
The Vesica is not a shape. It's a relationship.
Ask the question under the question: why does "two" need a space between them at all?
Because the moment there are two, there is relationship. Distance. Between-ness.
And here's the part that matters: the Vesica isn't the first circle or the second. It's the overlap — the part they share. It is the shape of what two things have in common. It is the geometry of relationship itself.
Feel this one
The One divides — and the first thing to exist in the gap is not a third object. It's a relationship between the two. Communion. The place where separate things touch and are, briefly, one again. God is three persons in relationship. Love is not a thing — it's a between. The Vesica is the shape of two-becoming-one-again.
Where geometry becomes flesh
The first shape of geometry is the first shape of life
That almond — the overlap, the "between" — is the shape of:
An eye.
A mouth.
A womb opening.
And a single cell at the exact instant it divides into two.
These aren't coincidences noticed later. Watch a fertilized cell divide — the first act of biological life. It doesn't snap into two separate balls. For one moment it becomes a vesica: two circles sharing an overlap, before they pull apart.
The two are one event
The first act of geometry (one circle becoming two) and the first act of life (one cell becoming two) are the same shape. Janice's testimony holds the Egg of Life — the 8-cell embryo. But one step further back, before the 8, before the 7, is the first division: one becoming two. That moment is the Vesica. Geometry and biology begin with the identical event.
The bottom of the well
Why is there a "one" at all?
The last question. The one that was pulling at you.
Why does anything divide? Why isn't there just nothing — or just undivided unity, forever? Here's what the geometry has been quietly saying the whole time:
Undivided unity cannot be known. A single point, alone, has nothing to relate to. It can't be seen, measured, or loved — there's no "other" to do the seeing or loving. Perfect oneness is perfectly hidden from itself.
For anything to be known — for love to exist, for a "you" and a "me" — the One must divide. It has to make an other. It has to open the gap.
And the instant it does, the Vesica appears — the shape of the divided-One reaching back toward union.
This is the whole thingCreation is the act of the One dividing so that love becomes possible. You can't have love without two. You can't have two without division. You can't have division without the between — and the between has a shape. It was there in the very first move, before the triangle, before the seven, before anything at all.
Genesis doesn't open with a static, sealed-off God. It opens with God speaking — "Let there be" — dividing light from dark, waters from waters, making an other to be in relationship with. The Vesica is the geometry of "Let there be." It is the shape of a God who would rather be known and in relationship than remain perfect, and alone.
The "ravaging force of love" she came back describing
isn't an add-on to creation. It's the reason there is one at all.
The universe divides so love can exist. The first shape is the shape of that division. Everything after it — the seed, the flower, the five solids, the spiral, the whole cathedral of form — is what unfolds once the One decides that love is worth the fracture.

The one idea underneath all of it
Strip away the mysticism and there's a single claim at the center of every one of these shapes.
The core claim
Certain shapes and ratios aren't invented by humans. They're discovered — already built into the structure of reality, from atoms to galaxies. So studying them is studying the blueprint, not doodling.
That's it. That's the whole thing. Everything else — the secrecy, the societies, the cathedrals — grows out of people believing they'd found the source code of creation and reacting accordingly.
The shapes, decoded
What each one actually means
Quick-hit version. What it is, why people care.
Vesica Piscis — two overlapping circles.
The first act of creation: one becomes two, and the almond shape between them is where everything else is born. Early Christians used it as the fish (ichthys) and the frame around Christ in sacred art.
Seed → Egg → Flower → Fruit of Life
A family that grows step by step:
Seed (7 circles) — the 7 days of creation. The starting pattern.
Egg (the next stage) — maps exactly onto the 8-cell stage of an embryo. The shape you were, days after conception.
Flower (19 circles) — the full bloom. Said to contain every other pattern inside it.
Fruit (13 circles) — the "blueprint of the universe." Connect its centers and you get the next one…
Metatron's Cube — draw every line between the Fruit of Life's 13 circles.
Hidden inside it: all five Platonic solids — the building blocks of 3D matter. Named for Metatron, the scribe-angel of Jewish and early Christian tradition.
Torus — the donut. The shape of a magnetic field, a smoke ring, the flow around every living thing. Some call it the fundamental shape of energy moving through space.
Fibonacci / Golden Spiral — grows by the golden ratio (φ ≈ 1.618) every quarter turn.
Found in sunflowers, nautilus shells, hurricanes, and galaxies. The same growth rule, from a seed head to a spiral arm of stars.

Why they blew ancient minds
In Plato's Timaeus (~360 BC), the craftsman-god builds the universe out of these 5 solids — one for each element, the dodecahedron for the heavens itself. To them, this meant the universe was assembled from geometry.
Older than Plato. Carved stone versions exist from ~500 BC (Etruscan), and possibly Neolithic Scotland — over 1,000 years before the man they're named after.
They're in nature. Salt forms cubes. Fluorite forms octahedrons. Viruses build icosahedral shells. Carbon locks into tetrahedrons.
They pair up. Every solid has a "dual" hidden inside it — put a dot on each face of a cube, connect them, an octahedron appears. And vice versa.
The secrecy
Why it got locked in a vault
Here's the part you asked about — the "why is this secretly kept" question. It's real, and it's less spooky and more human than the internet makes it.
1. Knowledge was power, literally.
If you knew the geometry to raise a cathedral dome that wouldn't collapse, you had a rare, valuable, dangerous-to-lose skill. The stonemasons who built medieval Europe's cathedrals guarded their methods like trade secrets — because they were.
2. Those guilds became the Freemasons.
Working stonemasons' guilds slowly turned into philosophical societies. They kept geometry as their central symbol — the "G" in the Masonic emblem stands (in part) for Geometry. The Platonic solids entered Masonic teaching by at least 1810, contemplated by initiates in the Royal Arch degree.
3. Sacred = protected.
If you believe a pattern is the literal blueprint of God's creation, you don't put it on a billboard. You reserve it for the prepared, the initiated, the reverent. Secrecy was treated as respect, not just control.
The honest take
The "secret societies" part is true — Templars, Freemasons, Hermetic orders all preserved this knowledge. But it wasn't one evil conspiracy. It was craftsmen protecting a livelihood, and believers protecting what they thought was holy. Both are very human.
The catch
What's real vs. what's projected
Being straight with you, because you'd want that.
Real: These shapes and ratios genuinely appear across nature and mathematics. The Platonic solids really are the only 5. φ really is in the sunflower.
Contested: Whether that means they're a divine message, a coincidence of how math works, or just humans pattern-matching — that's a faith and philosophy question, not a proven fact. Honest people land in different places.
Your frame: "God speaks in geometry" is a theological reading — and a old, respectable one. Augustine, Kepler, and Newton all believed math revealed the mind of God. You're in serious company.
"God has done everything by measure, number, and weight." — Wisdom 11:20, a verse Kepler and Newton both leaned on
The thread that ties it to her page
Why this belongs with a testimony
Here's the quiet beauty of it. The rainbow around God's throne shows up in both Ezekiel's vision and Revelation. The geometry of light — a rainbow is literally sunlight split by precise angles through water — is the same order running through these shapes.
Whether it's the covenant bow in the cloud, the spiral in a shell, or the five solids in a crystal, the claim underneath is the one Janice came back saying: there is an order holding everything, and it is love.
